Hong Kong student Jonathan Mak played with the logo for Apple Inc. to design a Steve Jobs tribute after the computing icon resigned as CEO in August.

The 19-year-old student attending Hong Kong's Polytechnic University School of Design replaced the bite mark in the Apple logo with a silhouette of Steve Jobs' profile.

replace x with y:把x 用 y 取代

After Jobs passed away on October 6, Mak's redesign went viral and was printed on commemorative caps and T-shirts sold on eBay.

After X, Mak’s redesign went viral and was printed on Y.

Mak’s redesign went viral. Mak

Now it turns out another designer made a similar tribute three months before.

It turns out that:結果被發現 (片語 –固定用法)上句省略了 that

Jonathan Mak wasn't the first to incorporate Steve Jobs' silhouette into the Apple logo.

Incorporate:合併(動詞)incorporate X into Y 把 x 合併放進Y中

Mak said he searched online for similar designs to ensure that the idea had not been done before. "I honestly did not come across his work while searching for terms such as ‘Apple, Steve Jobs, logo, silhouette.'"

Mak did not come across his work.

Hit with questions of plagiarism, Mak, says on his blog he "will not apologize."

hit somebody with something

(informal) to tell somebody something, especially something that surprises or shocks them

Mak was hit with questions of plagiarism這裡是被動語態(was hit Mak被問到抄襲的問題,這問題是沒有想到的,非常意外的。

放在句子最前面,以分詞構句呈現 being hit with questions of plagiarism,其中 being 可以省略,所以看到的是 Hit with questions of plagiarism

網路瘋狂轉載 X:X go viral. X went viral.

抄襲:plagiarism(名詞)

病毒引起的:viral(形容詞)

獻禮:tribute(名詞)

表徵人物:icon(名詞)

紀念帽子和 T-恤:commemorative caps and T-shirts

http://jmak.tumblr.com/post/11218933775/my-response-to-the-disputed-originality-of-the

With all due respect to Mr. Thornley, the quality of his graphic compared to yours is that his looks very amateurish. Not only does the man in his graphic NOT look like Steve Jobs, it doesn't look like any of Apple's top executives. In fact, it looks more like a silhouette of Dwight Eisenhower, than Steve Jobs. For one, in Mr. Thornley's graphic, the nose is wrong, the chin is wrong and the hair line is wrong. It could be a silhouette of any middle aged man, but it's not Steve Jobs.

Your graphic, Mr. Mak, is sharp, clean and is more professional looking, and is clearly a silhouette of Steve Jobs, while that of Mr. Thornley, is someone else entirely.

Kudos to you on a job well done, and my compliments to Mr. Thornley as well for giving it a good go, but his work is clearly second best and it's not even close.
